Mini Essay

Hawaii attracts many tourists and people in our own community because of it's beautiful scenery. Little do they know of what dangers come with the risk of going to see these natural attractions. Visitors and locals participating in outdoor activities such as going to the beach and trails should be put to blame for hiking and swimming incidents because most remain unaware of their surroundings, ignorant of signs notifying them of potential hazards and are careless.

It is the person's responsibility to be aware of the dangers of the location because if they get hurt it's their fault. David Potts, 44, of San Anselmo, California, went missing in 2011 because he was dancing around Nakalele Point blowhole when a large wave struck him from behind, knocking him into the whole. This goes to show how careless people can be when visiting popular locations on Hawaii. It's very important to stay alert and cautious while at the attraction site because there are many hazards that could cost you serious injuries or your life. According to the release, search teams returned to the blowhole five days later and noticed that visitors "continued to gather around the blowhole, despite being told that someone disappeared in that same location a few days ago." Warning signs are installed to prevent people from jeopardizing their safety. If people decide to disregard the signs then they continue on with the outdoor activity at their own risk. Therefore, the person involved in the activity should be held accountable if they were to get seriously hurt.

Hikers and beach-goers always have the option to not participate in any activity when visiting a place. It is their responsibility to read the warning signs before continuing to any hike and/or beach location. Just like in everyday activities you would follow a set of directions or rules to maintain order .  The same concept goes for hiking and swimming , you should always obey the signs to stay safe .
