Macbeth: Soliloquy
Foolish. I am destined to be king! So why do I feel so guilty? My acts of bravery have proven my worthiness of this honorable title. I, Macbeth deserve no less. My successes mean far much more than my losses. So why is this loss so heard to bear? A king has no time to mourn over a dear companion. I've got much greater tasks at hand. My bold acts of evil hide the cowardly self I am. Haunted voices instill fear as the guilt within me consumes me. I must conceal what is true to fulfill dearest Lady Macbeth's wishes. Who knew one so gentle and sweet could be overtaken by evil and greed? But now it's my time to follow though. There's no turning back. Now is not the time to fail. Especially not when I've just been named king and gained the respect of many. I've waited far too long to back out now. My reputation is on the line and anyone who dare ruin it shall perish. So long guilt. Farewell, Macbeth the coward. Make room for Macbeth the worthy king. I am deserving indeed I am. For goodness sake I just won the war. I've killed countless men. I am more valiant, hardworking, and skillful then King Duncan and any other of his successors could have ever been.
